The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Arizona College of Medicine Phoenix is accepting applications for a fulltime Assistant Professor with expertise and funding in musculoskeletal research. Areas of expertise which are of interest are musculoskeletal biomechanics, human movement science, rehabilitation, arthritis, musculoskeletal imaging, and sports medicine. With the guiding vision of building a nationally recognized musculoskeletal research program, this position will promote an increased understanding of sports related movement analysis and solve problems of the musculoskeletal system. The successful candidate will contribute substantially to this driving vision through outreach and collaboration across the department, college, and university. Additionally, this position will play an active role in enhancing trainee engagement and increasing diversity, including mentoring students from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds.
This position will also be responsible for the development, implementation, oversight and evaluation of athletic performance using high speed marker-less camera systems, force plate technology and data integration software. Development of the system infrastructure as it relates to data collection from human movement performance and integration into appropriate treatment protocols is required of this position. Initial support for salary and laboratory development will be provided over the first 2 years after which it is anticipated that this position will be partially funded by extramural grants.
