Job Description

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at UC Davis Health and Shriners Hospital for Children - Northern California is co-recruiting for a highly qualified accredited pediatric orthopedic fellowship-trained surgeon with an interest in trauma to complement its comprehensive combined pediatric program. The position will serve in the Faculty Senate Clinical-X series or HSCP series and will practice at both hospitals. Shriners Hospital for Children - Northern California is a surgical subspecialty hospital located on the campus of UC Davis Health in Sacramento that provides comprehensive pediatric orthopaedic care to children from all over Northern California, in addition to burn surgery, pediatric surgery, and rehabilitation. The UC Davis Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is the premier surgical service provider in the greater Sacramento region and beyond. The joint pediatric orthopaedic program, which includes 9 pediatric orthopaedists, 2 hand surgeons, 2 sports surgeons, 3 spine surgeons and 2 orthopaedic oncologists, is based at Shriners Hospital, with Level 1 pediatric trauma care at UC Davis. Together, the two institutions are ranked by U.S. News and World Report in pediatric orthopaedics. Sacramento is an easily accessible, family-oriented city in close proximity to the San Francisco Bay area, and Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada Mountains. EXPECTATIONS This position will provide pediatric orthopaedic care, with trauma call at UC Davis. Interest and skills in pediatric trauma are strongly preferred, including but not limited to dual fellowship training in trauma and pediatric orthopaedics. Faculty in the Clinical X series are expected to engage in professional competence and activity, teaching, research and creative work, and University/public service. This position will also include the teaching and supervision of fellows, residents, and medical students, as well as participate in departmental meetings, conferences, hospital, and departmental committees. This position will participate in evening/weekend/holiday call for our UC Davis Health Hospital System. Candidates in the Clinical X series must demonstrate the ability and experience to conduct scholarly/clinical/translational research and must provide evidence of experience obtaining extramural funding and/or administering clinical trials. This recruitment is conducted at the Assistant rank. The resulting hire will be at the Assistant rank regardless of the proposed appointee's qualifications.
