The School of Medicine and the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery are pleased to announce the opening of an Finance and Accounting Specialist position.
The Missouri Orthopaedic Institute, central Missouri's largest freestanding Orthopaedic center, is seeking an energetic, professional and highly motivated Finance and Accounting Specialist, who is interested in joining a fast-paced, highly productive team.
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery’s World-Class Research program consists of a 49+ member team conducting basic science, translational and clinical orthopaedic research. The Missouri Orthopaedic Institute (MOI) houses the Thompson Laboratory for Regenerative Orthopaedics (TLRO), which is the only comprehensive orthopaedic research laboratory housed within a freestanding orthopaedic hospital in the world. Our robust Orthopaedic Research Division is responsible for more than 100 ongoing research projects, with more than 40 of those being clinical research/trials. The ideal candidate will play an instrumental role in the success of sustaining our department’s mission: advance the clinical, research and teaching components of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Missouri.
This position will partner with clinical and research faculty and staff to support advancement of the overall culture of Missouri Orthopaedic Institute and our C3 Orthopaedics Initiative (Comprehensive, Cutting Edge, Caring Culture), which fosters a fast learning and continuously improving organization to further our mission.

Position Overview:
• Assist manager with pre-award processes: help prepare and review grant and clinical trial budgets, review funding guidelines, manuals, and directions in connection with OSPA contracting process
• Assist in drafting coverage analysis for School of Medicine
• Assist in ensuring that the clinical study funding agreement or award terms harmonize with the study budget, the study protocol, the research subject informed consent document, and any other study-related documents
• Assist with post-award processes, segregation of duty form completion, processing complex income statements on a monthly basis, assisting with pulling reports for budget projections, reviewing quarterly projects to ensure compliance, processing patient stipends
• Maintain quality communication and serve as liaison with departmental personnel to obtain information to verify or support financial records and ensure compliance with established institutional policies and procedures
• Prepare correspondence and answer inquiries regarding accounting information as required and ensure all backup documentation is received to support project invoices
• Work closely with finance staff in payroll correcting entries, procurement, accounts receivable and accounts payable
