The Financial Analyst II will work directly with the Finance Associate Director to assist with oversight of the department's overall financial picture. The Financial Analyst will be responsible for reviewing and reporting on financial statements at both SMPH and UW Health including funds at the UW Foundation. This position will help lead the UW Health budget process, track department financial commitments, and help with the physician compensation plan.
Leads the collection and analysis of the department's financial data to ensure efficient financial resource deployment. Expertly informs the handling of complex fiscal analysis, application of mathematical modeling to develop and interpret information that assist with decision making and policy formulation, and the development of budgets.
25% Prepares reports, spreadsheets, and schedules with compiled and conformed financial data from multiple reporting systems
25% Uses statistical analysis, simulations, predictive modeling, or other methods to analyze information and develop solutions to business problems
10% Recommends and/or approves general ledger entries in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Leads general ledger reconciliations and complex general ledger account analysis.
5% Develops and revises strategic approaches to be used for accomplishing goals
10% Leads the development, maintenance, and monitoring of automated financial information systems and budgets, and disseminates updates and results to leadership when appropriate
10% Leads the development and implementation of financial processes throughout the department, including the development and delivery of timelines, reports, and recommendations for improvement
5% Instructs, trains, and provides feedback to departmental financial staff based on developed goals. Advises on departmental best practices.
10% Assist with managing physician compensation plan

Accounting or related field
At least 2 years experience with Smartsheet, Smart View, EPBCS & Oracle
At least 2 years experience working with higher educations and/or medical institution finance highly preferred
CPA - Certified Public Accountant

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
