The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery within the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego (http://ortho.ucsd.edu) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Spine Surgeon to join our team. Responsibilities: • Perform complex spine surgeries, including reconstructions, traumatic spine care, and minimally invasive procedures • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of specialists, including neurosurgeons, anesthesiologists, and radiologists to provide comprehensive care to patients with spine disorders • Develop and implement evidence-based care pathways and clinical practice guidelines for spine surgery patients • Participate in the American Spine Registry, a national quality improvement registry for spine care • Collect and analyze performance measurement data on surgical site infection rates, new neurological deficits, unplanned return visits to the operating room, and pre-operative and post-operative patient reported outcomes • Participate in educational and research activities, including teaching and mentoring residents and fellows, and contributing to the advancement of spine surgery through research and publication • Participate in research activities, including clinical trials and basic science research, to advance the field of spine surgery. The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate’s background and experience.
