Responsibilities
Mayo Clinic is seeking a 0.8 FTE Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician to join our growing sports medicine facility in Tempe, Arizona. The Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician will provide comprehensive primary and musculoskeletal care for athletes at all levels in a multidisciplinary team environment. In this position, you’ll have the opportunity to provide team coverage and care for patients with sports-related injuries in collaboration with orthopedic surgery, primary care, physical medicine & rehabilitation, physical therapy and other surgical and medical specialties. On-site services include outpatient care across the sports medicine specialties, regenerative medicine procedures, as well as radiology and laboratory services.
The physician will join the Department of Orthopedic Surgery as part of a team of 14 orthopedic surgeons and four primary care, sports medicine physician. The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Arizona is a rapidly growing, dynamic practice with subspecialists in Adult Reconstruction, Shoulder and Elbow, Hand, Foot and Ankle, Oncology, and Sports Medicine. Our integrated practice offers excellent medical services throughout the organization and is dedicated to solving complex medical concerns for a challenging and rewarding career.
Candidates must be proficient in ultrasound use for therapeutic and diagnostic modalities, proficient in injection therapy, comfortable with acute concussion management, experienced with management of teams, and have the charisma and energy to grow the program. Education and Research are expectations of the position. You will have the opportunity to teach and serve as a mentor for orthopedic sports fellows, orthopedic residents, medical students, and other student groups.
Qualifications
Candidates must be fellowship-trained in Primary Care Sports Medicine and board-certified/board-eligible with Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Sports Medicine. Candidates must also be eligible for medical licensure in Arizona. The position requires four clinic days per week at the Tempe Sports Medicine Campus and athletic coverage to teams at offsite locations. Some travel required.
