UCSF Fresno & VACCHCS – Cardiology Faculty Position
The Department of Veterans Affairs Central California Health Care System (VACCHCS), Fresno, CA, affiliated with the world-renowned University of California- San Francisco Fresno Medical Education Program (a leader in health care quality and education) is recruiting for a full-time board certified or board eligible cardiologist under the VACCHCS Cardiology Section, Medicine Service.
Eligibility:

Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
Candidate must have completed a residency in internal medicine and fellowship in cardiology. The physician must be board certified in internal medicine and board certified or board eligible in cardiovascular disease.
Applicant must have a Medical Degree (MD, DO or equivalent).
Job Description:
The cardiologist provider is primarily responsible for ensuring high quality, patient-centric care for those enduring life-limiting illness. These will include facilitating goals of care conversations, resources, and pain and symptom managements.
The ideal candidate will be primarily doing non-invasive cardiology work but also have interest in doing invasive cardiology procedures such as transesophageal echocardiograms, diagnostic left heart catheterizations, and/or right heart catheterizations.
We would also consider more specialized cardiologist with training in advanced imaging, heart failure, or cardiac interventions.
This provider will function as an important member of the UCSF Fresno residency and fellowship programs, supervising medical students, residents, and fellows on a weekly basis. This includes providing inpatient and outpatient consultations comprising of fellow physicians, social workers, chaplains, nurses, and decedent affairs staff. It is essential to have appropriate knowledge base and skill set to efficiently manage pre- and post-operative patients, medical and surgical emergencies, inpatient and outpatient services.
If selected, the provider should dutifully agree to meet all of the VACCHCS Medicine Service & UCSF Fresno Faculty requirements/expectations. Faculty appointment with UCSF will be commensurate with the applicant’s background and accomplishments.

VACCHCS is part of VA Sierra Pacific Network (VISN21), which comprises of seven total facilities across northern/central California, Nevada, and Hawaii.
VACCHCS is a 114-bed acute care, general medical and surgical center with state of the art primary, secondary and tertiary care in major diagnostic, and treatment specializations.
VACCHCS has 40,000 Veterans currently enrolled for health care eligibility and serves more than 28,000 Veterans in six counties in California’s San Joaquin Valley: Tulare, Kings, Fresno, Madera, Merced and Mariposa.
In addition, a 60-bed Community Living Center (CLC) is located on campus and provides skilled nursing and rehabilitation care.

VACCHCS provided a reasonable salary estimate for this position $300,000-$350,000
