Job Detail Job Title: Student [Non-service Worker] Department: Orthopaedic Surgery Location: Farmington FTE%: 0.25 Shift 1st Search #: 2021-479 Closing Date: Recruiter: Leone, Marisa   UConn Health seeks to hire a research student worker for Orthopaedic Surgery. This is a temporary position working 10 hours per week. Primary responsibilities are to assist laboratory technicians with mouse colony handling under the director of the principal investigator. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY: Must be currently enrolled in college courses. MUST PROVIDE PROOF OF STUDENT STATUS UPON APPLICATION: Acceptable documentation must include either a letter from an academic advisor on letterhead; or a course schedule listing current term of enrollment, name of educational institute and students name; official transcripts or Student Clearinghouse course schedule. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Basic Microsoft Office PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with mouse colonies. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Perform animal husbandry duties such as setting up genetically engineered mouse matings and weaning litters. Monitor mice for signs of pregnancy and births. Observe mice for any indications of discomfort or poor health. Assign identification to mice by tattoo or by clipping ear notches and tail pieces. Assist with mouse necropsy and tissue harvest. SCHEDULE: 10 hours week as needed for laboratory projects. HOURLY PAY: $12 hourly, no benefits.
