ORTHOPEDICS DEPT: Sports Medicine

Rapidly growing, strong Orthopedics Department in academic and community settings.  Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport and LSU Health Sciences Center – Shreveport seek a Fellowship-Trained Sports Medicine Orthopedic Surgeon to add to the team.  Must be eligible for active Louisiana licensure and BC/BE.  This position would be for an Assistant or Associate Position.  We are recognized center for research, education and quality treatment of musculoskeletal injury and disease.  We have existing referral sources, but we continue to grow. 

Highlights of the Position:

  • Our health sciences center is home to the School of Medicine, School of Graduate Studies and School of Allied Health Professions and a robust research enterprise.  More than 800 students are enrolled in the degree programs at any one time.  Additionally, nearly 600 residents and fellows are trained each year.
  • 13 Faculty Members (Spine, Trauma, Sports Medicine, Hand, General), 15 Residents, 10 APPs
  • Programs include working with Shriners Hospital for Children & Overton Brooks Veteran Administration Medical Center
  • High existing volumes
  • Collegial and multidisciplinary team of physicians and nurses to collaborate on a customized plan of care for each patient.

This position:

  • Combines teaching and patient care
  • Emphasizes teaching and provides vitally important leadership and guidance to medical students and residents
