Director of the UR Medicine Motion Analysis Laboratory
The director will work with the Chair of Orthopedics to create and maintain a “world class” movement analysis laboratory, which seeks to advance the health, wellness and performance of patients in pediatrics, orthopedics, and neurology through quantitative movement assessment. The director will have skills and experience applying a host of quantitative movement assessments to clinical practice and research, meshing novel technologies and approaches with proven therapies. The director will oversee a state-of-the-art facility that offers unique movement assessments to clinical practitioners and their patients. Working synergistically with stakeholders from specializations in pediatrics, orthopedics and neurology, the director will develop and implement assessments specific to these specialties which inform clinical decisions. Similarly, the director will foster collaborations which integrate research paradigms that represent novel applications of movement assessment into clinical practice.
Doctorate Degree (non-MD) in bioengineering, biomechanics, kinesiology, exercise science, or related field
5 years of experience in managing and leading a clinical motion analysis laboratory with emphasis on pathological gait, upper-extremity motion, and athletic performance.
Proficiency supervising engineers, motion analysis, electromyography, customized kinetic and kinematic systems,
Established a national reputation for a productive program of research and scholarship supported by a substantial and significant record of publications in high quality journals
Interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients and staff
Familiarity and experience with research design, data collection and computerized systems, and experience with laboratory management and administrative activities highly preferred
