The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California, Irvine anticipates openings in the Specialist Series (open ranks). Applications are being sought from recent B.S., M.S., M.D., Ph.D, and M.D./Ph.D. graduates in the field of Orthopaedic Surgery with interest in biomechanics and/or molecular pathogenesis. Interdisciplinary skills and contribution to creative program or project and demonstrates professional competency is required.
Duties: Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions to the research enterprise of the University and to achieve recognition in the professional and scientific community.
Applications are being sought at various ranks - Jr., Assistant, Associate and Specialist.
Appointees to the Junior rank should possess a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) or equivalent research experience.
Appointees to the Assistant rank should possess a master’s degree (or equivalent degree).
Appointees to the Associate rank should possess a master’s degree (or equivalent degree).
Appointees to the full Specialist rank should possess a terminal degree (or equivalent degree).
Positions are dependent upon extramural funding and need. Initial appointments are for one year and renewal is based on availability of support. Compensation will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
