Orthopedic Spine Surgeon
University of Massachusetts Medical School
The Department of Orthopedics and Physical Rehabilitation at University of Massachusetts Medical School is seeking a BE/BC Orthopedic Surgeon with spine fellowship training to join the Orthopedic spine service. Candidates should possess strong academic credentials as well as a commitment to excellence in patient care, research, and teaching. The chosen candidate will receive a highly competitive compensation/benefits package with compensation incentivized to benefit productive clinicians. Academic appointment will be commensurate with credentials and experience. Clinical and Basic Research opportunities are extensive in this stimulating and collegial academic environment and we strongly welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds.
This position offers Spine surgeons an extraordinary opportunity to work in a nationally recognized, multi-disciplinary practice. The spine team is undergoing significant growth, providing a unique opportunity to join a comprehensive service staffed with fellowship trained orthopedic spine surgeons, neurosurgeons, interventional physiatrists, and anesthesiologists. Our facilities include ambulatory clinics and a dedicated spine procedure room on our Memorial Campus. Spine call is a shared service with Orthopedics and Neurosurgery. Call includes Level One Spine Trauma at our University campus which provides a state-of-the-art operating room, an Emergency Department built to accommodate over 100,000 patient visits per year, comprehensive imaging facilities and a life flight service. Overall, the applicant will be expected to be a team player committed to helping develop the service in the longer term. It will be expected that he/ she will be comfortable with the whole spectrum of modern surgical practice relating to spinal surgery and its complications. The candidate will also regularly work with residents as an integral part of the spine service. The position also has significant research opportunities that can be tailored to the candidate’s research interests. UMASS medical school is adjacent to the medical center and offers joint academic appointments emphasizing the outstanding combination of this clinical and academic opportunity.
UMass Memorial Medical Center, the clinical partner of the University of Massachusetts Medical School, is situated in Worcester, MA, a community rich in history and cultural diversity.
