Orthopedic Surgeon, OPA/Anchorage, FT Orthopedic Physicians Alaska seeks a highly skilled, dedicated, and professional fellowship-trained trauma surgeon to join our rapidly growing and dynamic team. General Summary The Orthopedic Surgeon diagnoses and treats or prescribes a course of treatment, surgery, and therapy for patients with disorders, malformations, diseases of and injuries to the musculoskeletal system. The Orthopedic Surgeon works with an interdisciplinary team of primary caregivers and administrative support staff to perform assigned duties while displaying the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct as well as acting in the best interest of Orthopedic Physicians Alaska, supporting our mission, vision, and values to optimize the health status of our patients. Primary Job Responsibilities -Examines patients and designs treatment and therapeutic plans -Takes and reviews patient case histories -Orders patient X-ray examinations and clinical laboratory tests -Interprets test results and evaluates examination findings -Performs surgeries consistent with training and practice patterns such as back and spinal surgeries, joint replacement surgery, etc. -Determines procedures for pre-operative and post-operative care, including administering sedatives and prescribing diets -Performs surgical procedures and coordinates operation care with anesthesia staff -Performs fracture treatment by open or closed methods, using appropriate devices as braces, casts, and splints -Manages and assists in the management of patients suffering from surgical complications -Creates treatment plans and writes orders on patient's charts, which are transcribed and implemented byappr9opriate staff -Participates in the management of orthopedic surgery services, scheduling of operations, and assignment of surgical staff -Participates in the direction of pre- and post-operative care and operating room management -Manages patient care in hospital and outpatient settings -Ensures that proper patient documentation is timely, accurate, complete, and is compliant with office, hospital, and government entities within seven days of treatment -Works with practice management to ensure proper compliance with billing, coding, and CPT code assignment -Gives feedback to and accepts feedback from all staff in a respectful manner -Acts in a positive and professional manner, complying with practice policies, procedures, and federal and state laws -Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Other Job Responsibilities -Contributes to quality improvement activities by actively participating in the medical staff activities, serving on various committees, and suggesting and supporting process improvements -Advises the Chief Executive Officer or Chief Operations Officer of any problems that can affect the efficiency of the organization
