Job Description

The University of Arizona (UArizona) College of Medicine – Tucson and Banner – University Medicine – Tucson seeks a new Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. The department currently maintains an outstanding orthopaedic trauma program with particular excellence in geriatric trauma, as well as high quality comprehensive orthopaedic services including a growing elective orthopaedic practice, an increasingly integrated spine surgery program provided in collaboration with the Department of Neurosurgery, and a robust and established collaboration with Vascular Surgery/Podiatry that provides a full spectrum of lower extremity and foot care. In addition to both organic and strategic growth of these and other programs, the new chair of Orthopaedic Surgery will have a unique opportunity to help build a high-profile sports medicine program in Southern Arizona with a recent clinical care arrangement formed between Banner - University Medicine Tucson and the University of Arizona Athletics, and to collaborate with the overall Banner Health Sports Medicine Program to develop a world-class, destination sports medicine program that could draw referrals from across the state.
