Job Description

Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) and Cooper University Health Care (CUHC) are actively committed to diversity at all levels of the organizations and are seeking an outstanding, academic physician to serve as the new Division Head of our Hand Surgery Division. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a growing, tertiary care medical center that not only provides regional Level 1 Trauma care including Microvascular Surgical Replantation and Brachial Plexus surgery, but is also actively expanding its elective, ambulatory presence in Southern New Jersey. This is a real opportunity for a dynamic individual to help further guide the long term growth of this already vibrant division.

The Division Head will be responsible for the continued growth and advancement of research, scholarly activity and teaching excellence. Microvascular Surgical skills are requisite and a microvascular skills lab is available. Research infrastructure including a research coordinator and fellows are accessible to the new division head as part of a research platform within the department. Active funded research is expected to be ongoing in a peripheral nerve lab on campus with vivarium access. A digital team is also available for partnership that is continuing to develop educational videos and virtual reality modules. Currently the division has 4 full time Hand Surgeons working as an integrated Orthoplastics team with a strategic plan for further expansion.

Qualifications:

  • Board certified/board eligible physician with an MD or DO from an accredited institution.
  • Fellowship trained in Orthopaedic Hand Surgery; must hold CAQ in Hand Surgery.
  • Must demonstrate sensitivity to the culture, needs, and aspirations of the diverse community we serve.
  • The candidate should possess qualifications for appointment to the faculty at the assistant professor level or higher.
  • Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills and a track record of educational and scholarly activity. Medical student, resident and fellowship education are core requirements of the position. Research infrastructure including a department research coordinator and research fellows is available to pursue academic interests.
