Full Time Shift Day Work Schedule Summary VP Area U of U Health - Academics Department 00269 - Orthopedic Surgery Operations Location Campus City Salt Lake City, UT Type of Recruitment External Posting Pay Rate Range $21.28 Close Date Open Until Filled No Job Summary Assist a large group of specialized pediatric orthopedic providers with scheduling surgical procedures at various locations, as well as obtaining insurance authorizations. This position will be housed primarily at our Provo location, but may be required to cover at current and future locations as needed. Responsibilities Place orders into iCentra and EPIC for each surgical procedure. Keeping detailed spreadsheets with authorizations and scheduling information. Assist in calendar maintenance for providers. Schedule procedures as well as follow-up clinic appointments in iCentra and EPIC . Assisting patient family with any surgical scheduling questions. Be able to triage, multitask and complete assigned work in a timely matter with minimal oversite. Float to the scheduling and patient check area as needed. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above. Demonstrated organizational, human relations, and effective communication skills. Knowledge of medical terminology. Strong word processing and spreadsheet software skills. The incumbent may be required to prioritize tasks received from multiple staff members and determine the order of importance. Ability to use discretion and judgment when scheduling appointments, screening calls, coordinate procedures, tests and other treatments as it relates to the patients care. Ability to coordinate work processes with other departments, community, governmental or regulatory agencies and must understand the objective and policies governing the activities of the department and be able to effectively communicate this information to interested parties. Minimum Qualifications Required Two years of secretarial experience, or equivalency. Successful completion of medical software training may be required by a certain date within some departments. Preferred Two years of experience in a hospital, clinic or laboratory setting. Patient registration or related field experience.
